Metallographic Facilities

   Optical Microscopy

                A Nikon research metallograph is available equipped with a new digital imaging system consisting of a Hitachi video camera, Matrox Millenium frame                   grabber and Micron computer. The image analysis software package is from NoesisVision. The digital imaging system may also be used with a stereo                   microscope and an MP4 macro-photography set-up. Several other optical microscopes are available. Metallographic sample preparation equipment is                  located in an adjacent laboratory.

   SEM

                 The SEM laboratory is equipped with a  JEOL T-300 and a PGT x-ray and image analysis system.

   TEM

                This laboratory contains a Philips C120 transmission electron microscope, EDS system and sample preparation equipment.
