METALLURGICAL ENGINEER
 
2 openings in the Midwest at a metals producer. 
Must have a BS degree in Material Science or Metallurgical Engineering.
Will consider recent grad or light experience.
Must be willing to work in a mill environment, on the production floor, and in the primary end of metal producing including melting, casting, and rolling.

Senior Metallurgist - Naperville, IL
Description
Nalco has an opening for a Senior Metallurgist in our Research and Development Group located in Naperville, IL.  The Senior Metallurgist will primarily be responsible for failure analysis and consulting.  The individual will participate in an intensive two year hands-on training program.  When training is complete, the candidate will be considered an expert in systems and failures for the utility, paper, process chemical, steel, refinery, food, and other related industries.  He or she will make visual and microscopic observations, exclude or clarify misleading information, perform additional testing when necessary, and consider the effects of normal and upset conditions on the service life of the system in question.  The position requires thorough documentation of the results and an explanation of methods, interpretation, and recommendations. Occasionally analyses and interpretations will be presented to customers. 
 
Other Responsibilities include:

  •  Up to 20% international and domestic travel

Qualifications
The minimum qualifications the candidate will have include:  

  • BS, MS or PhD in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science
  • Excellent  communication, interpersonal, systems and problem solving skills are a must
  • Familiarity with common computer software

The desired candidate will have the following experience:

  • An understanding of the effect of temperature on the microstructure of steel
  • A practical understanding of corrosion
